Zijue haki zako "Know Your Rights"

This is a legal empowerment advocacy campaign aiming to reduce domestic violence in Shinyanga urban and Simanjiro -Loibosiret districts. It is expected to reach a total of 3,650 people. This Program is funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and the Department for International Development of UK (DFID) through Legal Services Facility of Tanzania (LSF). By the project ends 1200 youth, 1200 community members, 1000 VICOBA group members and 250 domestic workers will be empowered to reduce and report incidence of domestic violence, and an increase on human rights in relation to domestic violence and availability of Police Gender and Children’s Desk (PGCD) for domestic violence survivors.

Overall Program Objective
•    To reduce the incidence of domestic violence in Simanjiro-Loibosiret and Shinyanga-Urban districts
Specific Program Objectives
•    By project end 1200 youth, 1200 community members, 250 domestic worker and 1000 VICOBA group members are empowered to reduce incidence of domestic violence

•    By project end 1200 youth, 1200 community members, 250 domestic worker and 1000 VICOBA group members are empowered to report any incidences of domestic violence

•    By project end YWCA will have increased awareness in the wider community on human/legal rights in relation to domestic violence and of the availability of Police Gender and Children’s Desks for domestic violence survivors

Target groups
•    Youth (male/female), Domestic Workers (male/female), VICOBA group members (male/female) and Community Members (male/female) in the areas of Shinyanga and Loibosiret: YWCA selected the areas of Shinyanga and Loibosiret to work within as we have existing programs in these areas and we are aware of the high levels of violence against women, as well as the poor access to legal education and services experienced by the community within these areas.

Achievements
•    Reduction of domestic violence incidences  in Loibosiret and Shinyanga due to increased awareness of domestic violence and where to report
•    238 youth, 248 community members, 96 domestic workers and 202 VICOBA groups members have been empowered to reduce and report the incidence of domestic violence
•    238 youth, 248 community members, 96 domestic workers and 202 VICOBA group’s members have been empowered to report the incidence of domestic violence thus led to increase in utilization of legal structures
•    238 youth, 248 community members, 96 domestic workers and 202 VICOBA group’s members have been become aware of human rights  and availability of police gender desk  for domestic violence survivors.
