Young women and girls from more than 13 countries in Africa convened in Addis Ababa Ethiopia for the Young Women’s Forum from 20th to 31st January 2014 on the margins of the 22nd African Union Summit under the theme: “Transforming Africa’s Agriculture for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods, through Harnessing Opportunities for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development ,”. We were sponsored by the World YWCA, UN Women and the Nike Foundation and created a statement that set out our priorities and needs for the forthcoming negotiations on the post-2015 agenda and defined the future we want. The statement was presented at the African Union. We were also fortunate enough to meet and dialogue with various people i.e. Former President of Ireland: Madam Mary Robinson, Rwandan Minister of Gender and Family Promotion GasinzigwaOda, Former President of Nigeria: Olusegun Obasanjo, UN Women Executive Director: PhumzileMlambo-Ngcukaand hold a high-level intergenerational breakfast to dialogue with and share our concerns with political and business leaders around the continent
